Helping Hands - Extending your team's reach
Understanding the Helping Hands need
Helping Hands(TM) is a compact teambuilding experience that teaches specific business lessons while changing lives forever. The assembling of real, high-tech prosthetic hands gives your team a common experience and context for helping others find ways of improving their effectiveness. The facilitated discussions and conversations create awareness and commitment to improve one or more focal areas described below.
Understanding the Helping Hands process
Each Helping Hand option includes the 1.5 hour building of the Helping Hands™ and either 1 or 2.5 hours of integration of the experience. In addition to the building of the Hands, participants will also design & decorate the box in which it goes. They will write a personalized message to the recipient. Each program begins with a video of the recipients using their Helping Hands in developing countries to establish the context and commitment to the 'customer'. Each hand will be delivered within six months to children and adults who would otherwise not be able to afford a prosthetic hand through our partnership with the Rotary club. There are over 2,000 landmine accidents every month in the world. The Helping Hands are provided at no cost to the recipients with your generosity. Photos will be posted for participants to see who has received your Helping Hands.

Helping Hands - Accessing Potential
Lessons for thinking outside the box
Duration: Four Hours
The challenge: Without disciplined thinking, our brains are wired to be safe. Possibilities of change and innovation are often suppressed by the natural forces of our thinking, our environment. As leaders, we must move beyond this as a matter of urgency if we are to build strong, powerful resilient companies and teams.
Helping Hands solution: Before building the Hands, individuals discover and discuss limitations to change and innovation following experiences on these subjects.
Business application: The assembly of the Hand itself is an example of accessing potential and thinking outside the box. How groups work together; sharing best practices and managing the clock points towards their ability to innovate and adapt. The program concludes with a discussion and action statements pertaining to accessing potential and thinking outside the box.
Helping Hands - Collaboration and Team Engagement
- Lessons for making teamwork work
Duration: Three Hours
o Why? Too often employees lose the context of how important their actions are to the greater good of the team, customer and community. This leads to petty, superficial difficulties in communicating, silo mentality and employee disengagement.
o Helping Hands solution: Before building the Hands, participants will identify and discuss the top three personal challenges to collaboration and team engagement.
o Business application: After the assembly of the Hands, participants will identify the major benefits of your products/services and discuss the top three things they can do to improve both collaboration and employee engagement.
Helping Hands - The shared experience
Duration: Two Hours
o Why? Only have time for a shared experience that makes a difference in the lives of others? There is a brief context to orient participants towards the building of the Hands and then we begin.
o Helping Hands solution: Sometimes just getting together outside the work context but still working together for something good brings new perspectives to old (and new) relationships
o Business application: In this version of Helping Hands, we leave the context and application open to the interpretation of the participants. Sometimes, a shared experience of doing something good together is all that is needed.
