The Helping Hands program (now referred to as the Build-a-Hand^® program) is about changing lives. This program is a charitable, CSR team building opportunity focused on perspective, inspiration, collaboration, and giving back. You will become a part of a growing movement to connect your team to the “WHY” of their work, each other, and the world. This program will have your team thinking and feeling deeply while they build prosthetic hands that will be donated around the world. Through virtual, hybrid and in-person events, over 70,000 prosthetic hands have been funded, built and donated to recipients in more than 90 countries. Prosthetic hands can provide many benefits and improve the quality of life for individuals with limb loss, but there are certain limitations, such as limited functionality, cost associated, maintenance and repair, emotional adjustment, and the learning curve of the individual, which can make it difficult. Odyssey prosthetics help you not only with building hands but also in the journey after that.

How much does a prosthetic hand cost?

The cost of building hands can vary widely depending on several factors, such as the type of prosthesis, level of customization, materials used, and the location where it is obtained. Generally, it ranges from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars.

How do prosthetic hands move fingers?

Prosthetic hands can move fingers using various mechanisms such as a cable system in body-powered prosthetic hand; muscle signals by myoelectric prosthetic hands; a hybrid of the two by incorporating body-powered cables for gross movements and myoelectric sensors for more refined finger control; and bionic or robotic prosthetic hands using advanced technology such as sensors, motors, and microprocessors.
